"Educational Tour of the grounds and museum at Fort Ligonier." Educators will learn how important literacy was during the French and Indian War and return to the classroom with a variety of literacy skills from reading maps and journals, conducting letter writing, working collaboratively to strategically plan and implement successful journeys from one fort to another. Educators could also teach students how to create time lines and present facts from our history from a specific time period to the importance of Fort Ligonier today. Act 48: 2 Hours

"Stories with Santa" and Teachers as Readers at the Highland Library. Educators will meet to discuss authentic holiday literature and techniques to engage and assess students comprehension. The goal of this event is to share the love of reading with children within the community. Educators will also have an opportunity to listen to a holiday related book and provide children with resources to make a personal connection to the story with a culminating activity. The evening will conclude with the children receiving a free book from Santa, compliments of KSLA Cambria County. Act 48: 2 Hours

Author's Workshop
KSLA Cambria County will partner with another council in Region VII to have a well-known author at our Author's Workshop. The author will provided the attendees with information of the writing process and getting a book to publication. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet and greet this author and purchase a book for the author to sign to be part of your very own personal library!
